Elric and Brian were beyond honored to get a chance to sit down with director Rian Johnson (BRICK, LOOPER, BROTHERS BLOOM, THE LAST JEDI) to talk about his excellent new film KNIVES OUT and join in on the topic of Mystery films. Elric and Brian have their 5 films because lists and Rian has a great list of movies that were sort of influences in one way or another on KNIVES OUT.

This month at the New Beverly, Quentin Tarantino has put together a wonderful tribute to actor Robert Forster (who recently passed away) and there are so many great and interesting films from his career on display throughout November. Elric and Brian fly solo on this episode as they run down all the Forster goodness as well as some excellent Matinee series, highlighting films of Ray Harryhausen, Film Noir, Neo Noir and David Cronenberg. What a month!

With any luck, listeners may find some horror recommendations for their own October viewing within! Enjoy!

Since the New Beverly is mostly playing ONCE UPON A TIME... IN HOLLYWOOD this month, Elric, Brian and Phil took this opportunity to talk to the film's Editor Fred Raskin about the movie. If you're unfamiliar with Fred's work, he's edited other films for Tarantino such as DJANGO UNCHAINED and THE HATEFUL EIGHT as well as both GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY films and three consecutive FAST AND FURIOUS movies starting with TOKYO DRIFT. On top of that, he also cut BONE TOMAHAWK and THE HOUSE WITH A CLOCK IN ITS WALLS! So Fred is the main guest interview for most of this episode and in the last section, all the matinees and kiddie shows playing at the theater in August are discussed. Be warned though, ONCE UPON A TIME...IN HOLLYWOOD is covered in great detail on this episode with major spoilers throughout, so please be aware of that before listening! Enjoy!

This month at the theater, the overriding programming theme is films from women - be it directed, co-directed or written by women and it's one heck of a lineup. Joining Elric, Brian and Phil this month to talk about the New Beverly calendar is film critic and blogger Marya E. Gates who is an authority on the topic and even did a lovely project called "A Year With Women" which you should absolutely check out: https://cinema-fanatic.com/a-year-with-women/

The idea for "Kiddee Midnights" was born out of the "Kiddee Matinees" and Midnight screenings that have been discussed on the New Beverly Calendar episodes of the show. The thought was to join them together in a peanut butter and chocolate kind of way and on this episode, Elric and Brian are joined by Millie De Chirico who programs TCM Underground (and more) to take on the topic. Each of them has selected five double features - containing one kids film and one midnight/cult film. This episode was a lot of fun to research and record so please enjoy!
